However, hammerheads sometimes swim in large schools, and when in the comfort of a school they are more inquisitive and will swim right up to divers to check them out.

When with a school of hammerheads, they typically ignore humans and are very unlikely to take a bite, which makes them safe to dive with for the most part.

As always, they are wild animals and extreme caution should be taken when around hammerheads in the wild.

They have large teeth that could easily do a lot of damage to a human, so you should always make sure you’re with a professional and be incredibly careful.

What Makes Hammerhead Sharks Aggressive?

It’s incredibly rare for hammerheads to be aggressive toward humans, and they typically will only do so if they feel threatened or in danger.

Hammerheads may also show aggression if they are in the presence of food and they feel they need to compete.

These are generally a safe species of shark for human divers and are not nearly as aggressive as some other sharks such as Bull or Great Whites.
